Ski Rental

Stocked with top-notch skis, snowboards, snowshoes and more, Big White’s rental shop always has you covered. Located in the Village Centre Mall building the heart of the Big White Village, the rental shop boasts a wide selection of equipment for every activity around the resort. If you happen to forget your jacket or pants, Dizzy’s Ski Shop offers daily rentals that are bound to keep you dry and warm. If you’re planning on renting anything early on in the day, you might want to plan for a bit of a wait since it’s the only rental shop in the village.

Ski School

Whether you’re new to the mountain or just feeling a little rusty, Big White’s ski and board school is staffed by an incredible team of experienced professionals from around the world. The team offers separate programs for kids, teens, and adults to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in what can be an intimidating environment. For those looking for a more exclusive experience, they offer private lessons with up to five of your friends and family. Regardless of the program, the benefits of Big White’s ski school are well worth the price; with lift line priority and an inside scoop on the best kept secrets on and off the mountain, you really can’t go wrong.

Child Care

For kids age 18 months to 5 years old, Big White’s Tot Town Daycare offers half-day and full-day programs filled with indoor and outdoor activities. Voted the “Best Place to be Abandoned by Your Parents” by Ski Canada Magazine, kids are guaranteed a fun time here.

For private care, Big White Sitters is an agency that operates within the resort to take care of kids, dogs, and even your home or rental. With services being offered around the clock, the agency gives parents more free time to enjoy a distraction-free day on the slopes or a night out on the town, while kids will be occupied with indoor and outdoor activities. Instead of leaving your dog at home for the day, the sitters will pick them up at your convenience, keeping them well fed, with lots of attention and exercise.

Ski Patrol

Big White’s excitement for powder is mirrored in their approach to mountain safety. Their website outlines a comprehensive approach to overall safety including the Alpine Responsibility Code, an emphasis on personal well being, and an extremely dedicated ski patrol squad. On top of their paid patrol team, there are employees from the Canadian Ski Patrol System (CSPS), along with volunteer patrollers to ensure that safety standards are always upheld. During the day, patrollers can be found at the top of the Alpine T-bar, Gem Lake Express and in the main Patrol Hut by the bottom of the Ridge Rocket Express. For night skiing, patrollers are located at the top of the Bullet Express.

Health and Wellbeing

Whitefoot Medical Clinic is Big White’s non-emergency walk-in clinic, it can be found within the Whitefoot lodge in the village centre. Open Monday to Friday between noon and 6:00pm, the clinic offers prescription medications, braces, and casts if it comes down to it. After hours visits or even house calls can be arranged by calling the clinic line at 250-765-0544. For emergencies on or off the mountain, visitors can call 911.

After a long day on the slopes, there are plenty of relaxing services to help you relax and recharge for the next day. Elevation Village Spa has two locations; one in the Village Centre Mall, and another in Chateau Big White. Stop by for massages, body scrubs, facials, and much more. If you’re too tired to leave the room, Mountain Massage is a mobile service offered by Big White, where you can get all the R&R you need from the comfort of your lodging.

Supermarkets

Should you decide to stay in, The Market at Big White has a wide variety of ingredients and specialty goods, perfect for a relaxing night in or a quick bite for breakfast before you start your day. Just be prepared to pay a premium for the convenience. The mountain also offers an online grocery service and a grocery shuttle for the more ambitious crowd. That said, if you want to save on cost, supermarkets in Kelowna have lower prices than Big White so pick up some groceries before you drive up.

Banking

ATM’s are located all over the mountain and village, but chances are you’re going to be stuck paying service fees. These ATM’s can be found at the following locations: Village Centre Mall, Happy Valley Day Lodge, The Market, Inn at Big White, Sessions Taphouse, and Snowshoe Sam’s. Credit cards are widely accepted, and there’s even a currency exchange service at the ticket office in the Village Centre Mall.

Internet

Free Telus Wi-Fi is offered to everyone visiting the resort, meaning you can share your experience with friends and family while you ride the lift or snap a quick photo at the base of the slopes. Visitors have access to Wi-Fi in the village and most hotel rooms, although not all of the condos do, since they aren’t owned by Big White.

Other Activities

If the trails and powder aren’t enough to satisfy your craving for physical activity, there are a variety of activities on and off the mountain. Big White offers personal fitness training from either the comfort of your chalet, in an on-mountain studio or even an outdoor workout. There is also a range of group fitness classes from cardio to yoga.

Snow tubing, ice skating, dog sledding, and snowmobiling are just a few of the many activities visitors will have access to during their time at the resort. If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, perhaps consider snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or horse-drawn sleigh rides through the village before settling in one of Big White’s many weekly events including a fireworks display every Saturday night.
